A personal TCK story about transportation

As I discuss on multiple occasions on this website, I don’t see “third cultures” as emerging necessarily from a “Third Culture Kid” (TCK) background (see also Konsepter page and the latest posts on “Third Cultures vs Third Culture Kids” and the feature on Roseane dos Reis). However, I (Kim) do personally have a Third Culture Kid background, and this has significantly shaped me, and the way I think about transportation and third cultures. For this reason, and because the more classical “TCK” context does provide extremely rich insights for research on third cultures more broadly, I reached out to Marie Suazo from “Talks with a TCK Friend”. Besides speaking with more more generally, she also welcomed me as a guest on her Podcast – thank you so much Marie! I am honoured to have been able to share some thoughts and my personal story on her platform and with her audience. During the Podcast episode I also share some preliminary thoughts about the MobileWorlds project, though at the time of recording I had not yet been able to do much of the analysis, so the insights are still mostly anecdotal.

If you’d like to have a listen, here’s the link to the podcast episode on Spotify (you can also use Apple Podcasts): https://open.spotify.com/episode/6zCTW7n3r1XFZweYs0P0NL

Do also have a listen into the various other episode of the podcast, which connects so many people with third culture backgrounds!

Thank you for having me, Marie!
