{"id":1393,"date":"2024-06-20T12:54:17","date_gmt":"2024-06-20T10:54:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mobileworlds.online\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=1393"},"modified":"2024-06-20T12:56:57","modified_gmt":"2024-06-20T10:56:57","slug":"presentation-on-thinking-otherwise-at-pontevedra-degrowth-conference","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/mobileworlds.online\/pt\/event\/presentation-on-thinking-otherwise-at-pontevedra-degrowth-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Presentation on &#8220;Thinking Otherwise&#8221; at Pontevedra Degrowth Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 21 June I&#8217;ll be presenting on the idea of &#8220;Thinking Otherwise&#8221; in academia and beyond, during a session called &#8220;<span class=\"font11\"><b>Challenging dominant values, ideologies, and imaginaries<\/b><\/span>&#8221; of the 10th International Degrowth Conference, this year in Pontevedra, Spain.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll share a bit about how Thinking Otherwise is discussed in two books: &#8220;Postcolonial Theory: An Introduction&#8221; by Leela Gandhi (second edition), and &#8220;Ways of Being. Animals, Plants, Machines: The Search for a Planetary Intelligence&#8221; by James Bridle. We zoom in especially to the questions of categorization in binaries and generalization as key objectives of academic research, why it might be interesting to transcend these objectives, and hints to how we might do so.
